The title you are looking at is the same article in english-tonight.com that i read now (You can open the link here). I ever write about my intense to learn English. To me, language is not theory that we h wave to read and memorize, but language is something we have to practice every day. If we type Learning English tips in google, you can read so many articles about it. The problem, we (sorry, i mean "i" not "we") rarely implement what we learn. He3. So today, i am randomly looking up English tips and try the tips right now.
1. Keep All of your Writing in One Place
"Buy a notebook of journal or start an electronic journal. By keeping your writing all in the same place, you will be able to see how much you are improving and keep it organized."
Oke, I am so lucky for tips number one because i have had this blog. Within this blog, i can use it for every need include for English learning. The next step is to keep it organized. Hmm.. Organizing this blog consistently is the real problem.
2. Practice Writing in English Daily
"The importance of writing daily is that you start to create a new habit. Writing every day in English will soon become natural and something you look forward to. You will not see a significant improvement if you are not dedicated to becoming a better writer in English. You cannot create awesome stories and papers if you never try."
Whatttt!! Everyday!!! Should i have to write English article everyday? Seriously? ( I am a little bit lebay). Even in bahasa, i just wrote about 1 article per 1 week. It's so difficult to apply. Can i make it easier for this tips?
3. Pick a Topic and Write!
"Don't get stuck on figuring out what to write about. You can write about anything. You can write about what you do, things you hear or see, news, or make up a story. If you do get stuck, use some of English Tonight's writing prompts to help you get started"
Things i see right now is laptop. He3. It's easier to get new topic everyday if we keep connecting in internet. Topic for today (or tomorrow) is about smartphone. The main reason why i choose this topic is i just new smartphone today :)
4. Write More than one Draft
"Draft means a preliminary version of piece of writing. Sometimes, your best writing becomes better after you take a break and work on a second or third draft. When you revise (or rewrite) your work you are often able to get your message across more clearly. You make think of things that you did not think to write in the first draft and you can add it in a later draft."
Oh.. Common... I just write half of tips. So far, the tips is too difficult. You can be back to previous tips, 2nd tips, we must write every day, and then, we can not completely in one chance. We must write first, take a break, and then write to revise. Of course applying tips 2nd, and 4th takes time. It is applicable if we have so much time every day. For someone who have spent so much time to work, having longer time to write is barrier. But, we must do the best. Go on to the next tips.
5. Use Online Resources to correct your Grammar.
"Yes, grammar is a pain. You don't need to know everything about English grammar. Use online resources, such as Grammarly, GrammarCheck or GrammarBook.com to help you answer a grammar question when it comes up. You could also switch the spell and grammar check on Ms. Word, your ipad or google Doc to check your spelling and grammar in English."
Yes, noted. I ever this tips from my friend. Writing report in English is part of her job. Although she is really advance in English, she still uses grammar website to check her report. I must try it.
6. Think Outside the Box (or Lines)
"Don't write about the same thing every day or you will get bored. Try writing the same story from different perspectives or different tenses. If you are writing a story about a baby that won't stop crying; first, it could be the mother telling the story; the from the perspective of the baby. Or you could write it in present moment... 'My baby hasn't stopped crying in five days...' and then write in the perspective of a pregnant woman that is thinking about having a baby what won't stop crying. Don't write about topics in the obvious way. Be creative!"
Writing in different tenses will enhance our grammar skill. Writing in different perspective will make us more creative. Besides different tenses and perspective, we must try to use different word everyday. Using different word will improve our vocabulary.
7. Have a Friend Edit your Writing
Have a friend that knows English correct or edit your work. Having another person read your work helps generate more ideas to better your writing. You could have them edit everything or just a part that you are stuck on. Often having another set of eyes look at your writing helps find mistakes that you have overlooked.
Can i shift or merge this tips to 5th tips? Finding friend that have really good in English is not difficult. But, to read and try to edit our article really takes time. Maybe if we are joining English course or involved in English club, we will be easier to freely ask their help.
8. Find the Best Place for You to Write.
Lol. The last tips is my favorite tips because i have some comfort place to write. Since i knew this place about 2 years ago, Kahwa is one of the place i often use for writing and finishing my campus assignment. Another comfort place to write is Bookopi in Kalibata, South Jakarta.
(I just check this article in grammarly.com and i find some mistakes. But, i am so tired now to fix it. He3).
